EMERGENCY
Is this an emergency?
Yes it’s an emergency if . . .
someone claiming to be an immigration official is at your home or place of work;
you are being detained by US immigration officials at an airport or port of entry;
your friend/family member is currently being detained at an airport or port of entry;
your friend or family member was just arrested by immigration officials and you do not know how to find them (also try this);
you or your family-member have been arrested; or
you are an existing client of ours and you cannot reach your attorney on their cell phone.
It’s NOT an emergency if . . .
you left a message and haven’t received a call back yet;
you saw that [a specific immigration policy or program] is being terminated by Trump and news reports are saying …;
you just received a letter in the mail (or saw online) that your case was denied or you application was rejected; or
another serious matter that deserves urgent attention, but does not involve anyone being arrested or detained.
In these situations there won’t be anything we can do to help immediately, but if you call the office and leave a message describing the situation then someone will call you back as soon as possible.
If you are contacting us regarding an emergency situation you can send a text message or email to urgent@jbclaw.us and your message will be forwarded to staff outside of business hours. Please don’t use this for non-emergency situations.
If it is a real emergency, like if someone is in danger or a crime is occurring, then you should contact the police or 9-1-1 (if in the U.S.).
